Talkin' Dinosaurs and Shit

Very interesting read if you're into dinosaurs and that whole era. Scientists in Argentina have unearthed sauropod dinosaur eggs and have found that not only were they home to baby dinosaurs but wasps as well.

Eggs discovered in the Patagonia region have been found to have traces of insect cocoons similar in size and shape to modern day wasps. Not only were the dinosaurs hatching their own eggs but also the eggs of many different insects, not just wasps. Scientists say the possibility is very likely and most likely the case of ground feeding insects using the rotten egg shells left over as breeding and feeding grounds. Studies have shown "that wasps probably participated in the food web, mostly composed of scavenging insects, which developed on the rotten egg. The make-up of carrion communities -- spiders, beetles and other creatures populating rotting organic matter."

Researchers say that the wasps and other insects played a part in cleaning up too. It's been said that dinosaurs would return to the same nesting year after year. Wasps and other bottom feeding insects were responsible for cleaning up the site and making sure that it was clean to use.
