Back To The Future Was Really Weird
John Mulaney breaks down the reasons why Back To The Future might be one of the strangest movies ever

Speakeasy w/ Hannibal Buress
Speakeasy is still going strong but it looks like Paul F. Tompkins is out as the host. Which is a shame because I've always said that this show had the potential to make the transition to TV and beat some of the major talk shows. A channel like IFC would of been smart to get on this but what do I know, I run a crappy blog page. This time around PFT is joined by one of the biggest names in stand up comedy right now, Hannibal Buress. The Chicago native bellies up to the bar to talk about his start in the biz and where it's taken him. It's great to see Hannibal doing well, I can remember seeing him in college performing at the local hip hop club and any open mic he could find. He actually performed at one of my house parties during our time at SIU-C. He even broke up a fight in my driveway one night during a party.

Nick Nolte As Han Solo
With all the Star Wars hype in full force it's time to revisit a hilarious bit from the great Patton Oswalt. Apparently, back in the day before Harrison Ford was cast as Han Solo we were only a heartbeat away from having Nick Nolte play the infamous space smuggler. Could you imagine Nolte in that role? Patton Oswalt can.

Zach Galifinakis Recalls Hysterically Offensive Joke
Zach Galifinakis talks about a really funny and horrible joke a guy told him at a bar in the south . Clip courtesy of the Pete Holmes podcast, "You Made It Weird"

Early Zach Galifinakis Stand-Up
Before Zach Galifinakis was fat Jesus and before he was a superstar he was just another comic trying to catch a break in L.A. Here he is on the Letterman Show back in 2000. This was after Letterman had heart surgery so Janeane Garofalo is the guest host....

Remembering Bill Hicks
One of the great things about Bill Hicks is that you either love him or hate him. I fall into that first category. Say what you will about the guy but he was ahead of his time and things he said 20 years ago still ring true today. Whether he was talking about drugs, bullshit politicians or his hate of everything squeaky clean he had a passion that's gone unmatched since his passing. I could go on and on about why I enjoy Bill Hicks but instead enjoy the documentary that came out a few years back entitled "American: The Bill Hicks Story".............

Harland Williams: A Force of Nature
Harland Williams has gone where no stand-up comedian has gone before. The Mojave Desert. More specific, atop a mountain in the Mojave Desert. Williams recorded his special outside the friendly confines of a theater or comedy club and took it somewhere that only makes sense to Harland Williams. Force of Nature came out last year and I don't remember it getting a lot of attention which is too bad, dude is hilarious.

The Best of Jeff Ross
Enjoy 37 minutes of the Master of Roasts trashing everyone from Shaq to Hugh Hefner. Nobody does it better than Jeff Ross unfortunately the roast have gone downhill over the years since Comedy Central took over. Don't get me wrong, their funny as hell, I just don't understand the process of choosing the people who get honored. Either way here's some of Jeff's best tongue lashings......

The Benson Interruption w/ Doug Benson
Comedy Central ran "The Benson Interuption" a few years ago and they need to bring it back. I believe it still runs as a stage show but either way it's a great concept made even better with his choice of guests. Comedians take the stage and go thru their normal bits while Doug Benson interrupts them with his own observations. This time around Doug is joined by fellow comics Eugene Mirman, Rob Huebel, & Mary Lynn Rajskub.

Hannibal Buress Is the Best New Comic
I hate to call Hannibal a new comic because he's been putting in work and paying his dues for many years now. Hell, I can remember when he performed at my house during a party in college, SIU-C for those keeping score at home. After he got done he broke up a fight in my driveway. Don't ask me how I remembered that. Anyways, Hannibal has been killing it lately and making a name for himself. I just realized that I haven't shown him any love here on the Gravy. So here he is talking about the difference between black and white strip clubs...........

Christian Athletes
If you're into sports or at least pay attention to any kind of news then you know who Tim Tebow is. In my opinion, he's a young NFL quarterback who had a sub par year with sub par stats that got lucky with the help of his backfield and a streaky defense. Some would probably disagree, some might even say the boy is god like. That divine intervention was responsible for all those come from behind victories. In fact, USA Today ran a poll and 43% of those asked believed divine intervention really did play a role in his success, of course all due in part to Tebow's undying love of god and all things churchy. Bullshit. I won't sit here and tell you why I hate organized religon or christianity in general, but I will say how much I hate "christian athletes". I find it hard to believe that if god is real and has "control" over all these things in the universe that he wouldn't be wasting his precious time dealing with who wins a football game or any other sporting event. Athletes/celebrities in the spotlight who pray or feel the need to thank god in a public forum or in front of cameras comes off a bit grand standsih to me. Like I said, these people really think God uses his divine powers to win them an Emmy or Heisman Trophy, all this instead of curing AIDS or saving starving babies. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
Tebow is the newest star athlete to thank jesus for every great game he plays. The dude even has his own meme, "Tebowing", which is bowing down to thank christ for his bounty of 3rd down conversions and great blocking up-front. I could rant forever about this but why not the master himself take care of that.........

It's Just a Ride
I try not to get preachy on here or use this space as a political soapbox, there's enough of those blogs out there. Just for a momet though put aside your beliefs in politics, religion, and thoughts about the world. The video below is the late, great Bill Hicks dropping all kinds of wisdom. Bill was great human being and believed we could all co-exsist and not in some kind of hippie love commune kind of way. Bill Hicks was ahead of his time and we could all still learn something from him.

KFC Famous Bowls
KFC has done it again!! They've managed to cram all their menu items into one neat and convenient bowl but wait there's a twist. This time they added bacon!!!! Holy shit everything is better with bacon!!!! I'll be the first to admit I have a soft spot for the colonel. His chicken is magical but I draw the line at the Famous Bowls or as I like to call them 'the best accesory for a pair of sweatpants'. I think Patton Oswalt said it best, "Give me a failure pile in a sadness bowl."

Comedian Suffers Stroke
Most of you might know Patrice O'Neal from the early seasons of The Office. He was one of the warehouse workers, the only one who spoke other than Daryl. O'Neal is an accomplished stand-up comedian and appeared recently on the Charlie Sheen roast. I don't ever remember seeing him on other roasts though. He was a frequent guest on Colin Quinn's Tough Crowd and did a number of his own stand-up shows on Comedy Central.
It was announced today this morning on the Opie & Anthony show by friend and fellow comedian Paul Norton'
We don't know how he is, we don't know how he's going to be. ...I didn't want to do this by myself. I wish we had more news for you."
His family and friends have set up an email account where you can send get well wishes and what not - LoveForPatrice@gmail.com
No other news has been released on his condition other than that he is alive.

90yr. Old Comedian Makes You Wet Your Depends
Bill Leahy is my new hero! Bill is 90 years young and just started his stand-up comedy career. He's retired and has been bored since his wife died so he figured he'd give stand-up a shot. Leahy never had a problem making friends laugh but always wanted to get on stage in front of a crowd. On his 90th birthday he did a half hour set. He's billed as the sit down comic because he's too old to stand too long, so he performs in a lazy boy. His son stands on the side of the stage and is in charge of the cue cards that help keep his dad on track. His most recent show attracted a crowd of 500 at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse, NY and was made up of mostly senior citizens. Leahy likes to finish his set with some advice for any other 90 year old men in the crowd, "Get a nice 80 year old woman who knows how to tap dance.

The Aristocrats
It's said to be the oldest and dirtiest joke ever. Comics have told it for years, each putting their own special twist on it. The only rule there is when it comes to telling The Aristocrats is you have to make is as disgusting and offensive as you possibly can. Back in 2006 a documentary about the joke came out. It featured all the great comics past and present telling their version. Some say George Carlin did best and some might even say Bob Sagot does a brutal version. For my money though, I have to go with the genius minds of Matt & Trey over at South Park. Something about Cartman doing it makes it so much better.

Eugene Mirman v/s Time Warner Cable
Eugene Mirman is an incredible comic! You might know him as Eugene the super from Flight of the Conchords or some of his Comedy Central apperances. Below is a clip of his stand-up act, he opens with some of his old stuff then gets into his Time Warner rant. Classic!! Below the clip is a link to SplitSider and they have a copy of the letter to read.
