Flight of the Conchords Meets The Hobbit

It's been rumored that the Conchords very own Bret McKenzie will be making a cameo in Peter Jackson's new movie, The Hobbit, but there was no clear answer as to who he would be playing. Total Film caught up with McKenzie and asked about his role in the flick,

"I've got a cameo as an elf. Or another cameo, my character is called Lindir, I hang out with Elrond… I've got a few lines in Elvish. You'll probably see, I've got slightly different ears. That's how I differentiate my elf characters. The big difference for this character is that he's in 3D. He's a character that's a lot more three dimensional."

McKenzie made cameos in two of Jackson's Ring movies already, Fellowship and Return of the King, but this time around he'll have a speaking part. In Fellowship he played the part of Figwit the Elf at the meeting of Elrond and in King he played an uncredited elf escort.  McKenzie will be joined by returning cast members Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving and Elijah Wood. Making their first Ring appearances are Martin Freeman who some might recognize from the British version of The Office, he played Tim, or if you're like me and are a huge fan of the new Sherlock Holmes series, Sherlock, you might recognize him as Watson. He'll be joined by his Sherlock cast mate, Holmes himself, Benedict Cumberbatch. Freeman will play the featured roll of Bilbo while Cumberbatch will take on voice roles of Smaug and The Necromancer. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit the big screen  December 14, 2012. NME has the full story
