You might have to know a really good taxidermist and an engineer to pull this one off. Turning your dead pet into an RC plane isn't the first choice of most pet owners but most pet owners aren't dutch artist Bart Jansen.
Orvillecopter is Jansen's latest creation made mostly out of his own cat who was recently run over by a car. Jansen took the corpse and teamed up with RC guru Arjen Beltman to create a flying version of the deceased pet. Jansen describes it as "Half Pet-Half Machine" that will be flying with the birds soon enough after an engine overhaul. Right now the cat-copter is only able to hover a few feet off the ground but with a little boost he'll flying high. It's part of a visual art exhibit on display at the Kunstrai Art Festival in Amsterdam.
Jansen said of his copter kitty, "After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously and will soon be flying high with the birds. Oh how he loved birds. He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this will soon change into steady flight."
I have two dogs and when they die I think we'll just find a nice spot out in the backyard and bury them. Something about my 120lb. hound dog flying overheard scares me a little bit, like 747 with bad gas.
