Breaking Bad Meth Candy
I'm not a huge fan of the show Breaking Bad but apparently it's filmed in Albuquerque, NM and all the meth seen in the show is in fact rock candy. Where does the candy come from? A local sweet shop and supplies are running out. Somebody better call Walt and let him know!
The owner and operator of The Candy Lady, Debbie Hall, says she is in no way trying to glorify meth use and people need to relax and remember that it's a prop for a TV show.
Hall has supplied the show with prop drugs in seasons past and says the formula is pretty simple, a little rock candy with some blue dye tossed in. Fans of the show have been swarming the New Mexico candy shop to get a taste of Walter White's famous Blue Sky meth. Sales have skyrocketed ever since Brian Cranston, who plays meth maker Walter White in the series, made an appearance on David Letterman's late night show and showed off a bag of the blue candy. Hall says she's not the only local business taking advantage of the popularity of Breaking Bad. A local donut shop is offering "Blue Sky Breaking Bad" donuts that consist of a vanilla-iced cake donut topped with the blue rock candy. A spokesman for the New Mexico Health Dept. realizes it's a joke but reminds local businesses that meth is a major problem in the area and drug abuse is a serious issue. So next time you're in downtown Albuquerque stop by The Candy Lady and pick yourself up a bag of Walt's special candy. Just make sure Jesse doesn't find out.
