Queens of the Stone Age New Album

According to the Facebook page of QOTSA they are back working on their new album. The update was short and sweet, "Recording." Frontman Josh Homme gave an interview in early 2011 and said the new album would hit shelves at the end of that year but nothing ever happened. Now it looks like the band has gotten back on track and is working to complete their 6th studio album, this would be a follow-up to the 2007 release "Era Vulgaris". Homme seemed optimistic in a recent interview with BBC Radio 1,
"We're at a weird moment where we really don't feel like we have anything to prove. We just want to play to the people that are into us and we want to play right at them."

Homme had released earlier updates via social media saying that the band was "locked away in the desert & shit yeah. it. sounds. fuckin. killer."
No official release date has been set at the moment but it sounds like the band is doing everything they can to make the album happen this year. Guitarist Dean Fertita had this to say,
"We've got so many ideas started already, I guess we'll see what turns out to be everybody's favourite. It's very much still Homme's band, but I think all of us really feel like we've found our space in it and can contribute to it as well."
