New Dropkick Murphys Album

The Irish punk band Dropkick Murphys is getting ready to release their new album Signed and Sealed In Blood. It's the follow-up to their 2011 release Going Out in Style. Ken Casey, bass, sat down with Billboard to talk about the concept behind some of the new material,

"It's just us having fun and making the most catchy, singalong kind of songs we can. It's not that the lat album wasn't fun. It was. 'Going Out in Style' is one of the records I'm most proud of, of anything we've done. But it gave me a couple migraines along the way, getting through that because everything was so connected. This time we cut loose. This is also almost a continuation of 'Style', in a musical sense. There's an upbeat, party vibe to it. A lot of these songs, we were having such a good time writing them and just enjoying the witness process. It's the quickest we've released an album, ever, after another."

Casey, the only remaining original member of the Murphys, got together with producer Ted Hutt who worked with the band on Style and at this point the band considers him to be the unofficial 8th member. The band has been previewing some of the new material on their recent summer tour and have received great feedback from the audience. Right now the Murphys are working on the final details of the album and putting together their fall/winter tour schedule. The 3 week tour kicks off Oct. 29th in Grand Rapids, MI and heads to Europe for a run of Dublin shows after that. The tour comes back around to the states in February and March.
