Dave Grohl Says No to Tour w/ QOTSA

The Foo Fighters recently announced they were taking a brief hiatus and would come back at some point in time. Dave Grohl being the rock star that he is took over drum duties on the new Queens of the Stone Age album due out some time in 2013. That's the good news, the bad news is that he won't be joining the band on tour in support of the album according to an interview with a CBS affiliate. He also stated that he fully expects his side project, Them Crooked Vultures, with QOTSA's Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones to get back together.
He also told the BBC that playing with Queens of the Stone Age is like nothing else he's ever done,

"With Queens of the Stone Age, like, there were no boundaries with that band, there were no limits with them, it was like if you did something insane, you’d do more, if you did something that seemed too ridiculous– and honestly the new Queens of the Stone Age record, I’m playing drums on that, and I’ll do something so completely ridiculous, I’ll just, like, 'There’s no way that that Josh isn’t going to let me do that', and he’ll say, 'Do that for 45 seconds, over and over again, that’s become, like, part of the song, that is a big part of the song,' and that’s the way they work."

QOTSA will hit the road in March 2013 in support of the new album minus Dave Grohl and as of right now it looks like only European dates have been released.
