Metallica Announces 2nd Headliner for Orion Festival

Metallica has confirmed some heavy hitters for the second annual Orion Festival this June at Bell Isle up in Detroit. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been announced as the second headliner of the two day show, the other being Metallica. Lars Ulrich recently sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about the Orion Festival,

"Our idea was to bring North America the kind of festival experience you get in Europe, which is all about diversity and new experiences. When we first proposed this, people were like, 'Why isn't Metallica doing a metal fest?' That surprised me; we weren't interested in doing that. Admittedly, a lot of things we put together could've been weird, but we were stunned how people really vibed on it."

Other bands featured on this years line-up include Deftones, Dropkick Murphys, Fu Manchu, All Shall Perish, Japandroids, The Joy Formidable, Rise Against, BassNectar, FIDLAR, Gogol Bordello and plenty more. Check out NME for a full list of bands appearing at the festival.
