Leave it to those wacky Chinese to come up with something like this. They always seem to be on the cutting edge of home remedies and I don't mean that as a pun. This is literally the cutting edge.
When you visit the barber in Chengdu city, Sichuan province you have the option of having your eyeballs cleaned with a straight edge razor. It's an ancient craft that's pretty much died out in modern times but there are still places you can go to have the area around your eyeball cleaned and scrapped. The barber, Mr. Deyuan, starts out by holding the eye open and running his blade across the surface of the eyeball, he then inserts a small rod beneath the upper and lower lids and scrapes it back and forth.
I'm going to go ahead and say that I'll take a pass on that shit every time and stick with the hair cut. The cost of the scraping is about one US dollar and Mr. Deyuan says his customers love the procedure. Everything else at the shop is pretty standard fare but he says over the last 7 years or so he's been doing the eyeball cleaning and hasn't had any complaints yet. Fuck that!!
