Spinal Tap Reunion?

Christopher Guest sat down for an interview with Guardian UK recently to talk about his new HBO show Family Tree but that wasn't the only topic of the day. Guest was asked about the likelihood of a Spinal Tap reunion and he said it's an option that never gets ruled out. The fictional heavy metal band did a comeback tour of sorts back in 2009 playing acoustic shows featuring music from Tap and "A Mighty Wind". I was lucky enough to catch one of those gigs and it was spectacular. I have to say though, it was weird to see all of them onstage out of character doing the Spinal Tap shtick. They just came out on in their street clothes as themselves and did the show that way. Guest was asked if Spinal Tap would ever make a comeback on the big stage and headline a show like the Glastonbury Festival like the Rolling Stones did this year,

"We played the Pyramid Stage in 2009. It was a fantastic show. There were 130,000 people there or something. Since the film 30 years ago we've gone on tour, playing Wembley, the Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall… It's weird but great. The fiction became real. We get asked to do shows on a regular basis. But what I will say is that we're in the midst of talking about something for next year…"

So there you go, you heard it from the mouth of Nigel Tufnel himself. You just wait until next year and all your Spinal Tap desires will be fulfilled. In the meantime, smell my glove!!
