2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

It's a pretty decent list this year with a few shoe-ins and one band that's been waiting a loooong time to get the nod. Last year saw the induction of RUSH, a long time snub of the Hall, and this year it looks like KISS will finally get their shot at glory. Personally, I don't care for KISS but you can't deny the fact that they were at one point of the biggest bands in the world. I think the no brainers this year will be Nirvana and Deep Purple. This is the first year that Nirvana has been eligible and I would be willing to guess that Deep Purple has been eligible, they just haven't gotten the nod. I'd love to see The Meters get inducted and this might be a good year for them to try. There aren't a lot of powerhouses this year. Sure, there's some great bands/groups listed below but I'm not real sure some of them belong in the hall despite being huge in their own right. Looking at you NWA and Hall & Oates. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Here's the criteria in case you're interested.......Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.
The Foundation’s nominating committee selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of more than 600 artists, historians and members of the music industry. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes - and more than 50 percent of the vote - are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.
