Behemoth Being Detained by Russia

Apparently Putin isn't a big metal fan. Polish Black Metal band Behemoth will be missing a few of their upcoming tour dates after being detained by Russian authorities for issues with their visas. Frontman Adam Darksi, aka Nergal, released a statement on the band's Facebook page earlier today,

“We’ve been stopped by the immigration services for ‘wrong visas’. When I said that we will not move an inch from the club without someone from the Polish embassy, they threatened to force us out. They took us in a bus, accompanied by 10 officers, to the building of Federal Migration Service. We tried to reach Polish embassy in Jekaterinburg but no one is answering the phone. If possible – please copy this message and pass it everywhere you can. We may expect a multihour hearing. The concert is off for sure. The only thing we want is to get back to the hotel safely and then – to Poland. No matter how hard we try – we cannot pass it all.”

Hours later the band released another update stating that they would be housed in a normal jail until the next morning when they will face the judge and find out their punishment. According to the Nergal the band will most likely face deportation. Behemoth was just about to kick off their European summer tour when they were arrested. The tour kicks off with a 5 show run throughout Russia. The Russian dates are most likely canceled and if the band is deported the tour will start back up on time in Kiev on May 28th.
