Meat Hall of Fame
Apparently there's a Meat Hall of Fame and I need to be a part of it. The Wisconsin Meat Industry Hall of Fame to be exact is inducting 5 new members, one of which is a munchkin from Wizard of Oz.
Meinhardt Raabe, a WI native, played the role of "Little Oscar", an early spokesperson for Oscar Mayer. The image of Little Oscar and it's branding helped build Oscar Mayer in it's early days. Later on Raabe left his post at O-M to take an acting gig as the munchkin coroner who announces the death of the wicked witch in the classic Oz.
The success of the movie and his character bled over to his role as Little Oscar and helped spread the O-M name across the U.S. Raabe passed away in 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was the last remaining munchkin that had a speaking line in the movie, he was 94 years old.
