Fans of Larry David and Michael Richards might remember the early '80s late night show 'Fridays'. It was a duplicate of Saturday Night Live that ran from 1980-82 on ABC. It was ABC's answer to the declining ratings of SNL at the time. 'Fridays' is probably known best as the show where Andy Kaufman had a melt down on live TV. Kaufman and Michael Richards got into it after Kaufman decided half way thru a sketch that he didn't want to do it anymore, it's the 2nd video below.
But long before Richards was known as Kramer and even before he turned into a ranting racist, he was best known as Battle Boy! It's a skit based on his early stand-up routine where he would actually set up a sandbox on stage in the club and blow up army guys. 'Fridays' decided to turn it into a skit and it ended up becoming a reoccurring character.
Richards is supposed to be a kid he is fascinated by plastic army men and blowing them to pieces.
