Texting Turns 19

OMG!WTF! Texting turned the big 19 this week!! That's right, the technology that ruined the english language and gave us the luxury of never having to actually talk to someone when speaking to them.
The first text ever sent was ‘Merry Christmas’ by Neil Papworth, who at the time was a 22-year-old test engineer, he sent the message to a friend. In December of '92  Papworth was on his work computer at the Sema Group when he sent the SMS(Short Message Service) to an Orbitel 901 handset on the Vodafone network. Little did Papworth know at the time he was revolutionizing the way future generations would communicate. Texting has become a huge part of everyday life. Hell, my grandma knows how to text! I will say this though, nothing makes me feel safer than when I'm driving down the road and look over to see the other driver staring at their lap, getting that last 'oh so important' text off. Ya know, instead of paying attention to the road. Happy Birthday Texting!!
