No More Counting to Potato

Gawker released a great story today about the "I Can Count to Potato" girl that we've all grown to love and laugh at over the years. Turns out that little girl is now 16 and her and her mom are pissed! Rightfully so too, as someone who had an uncle with downs I can understand. Just 6 months ago the mother, Liz Crowter, discovered the meme and realized it was her daughter Heidi in the picture,
"These trolls are cowardly, nasty people who should be punished for the damage they are doing to people with their comments. They have no right to take Heidi's image and use it alongside these cruel sites."
Mom says the picture was used without their knowledge or consent and that the photo was taken off a local Coventry, England website for a support group for parents with kids who suffer disabilities. Liz Crowter and some friends have banded together to search all overvFacebook and other sites to have the picture removed. She tried bringing the police into matter but they've told her there's nothing they can do. The photo has been circulating since 2009 according to Know Your Meme and shows no signs of slowing down. The Crowter's have done their best but like it says in the Gawker article, removing the meme has become a whole new meme itself. I'm guilty of laughing at it myself and after reading this story I feel worse. Swear I'll never laugh at it again......OK one more time.
Gawker has the story
