Primus Fall Tour Dates

Primus is gearing up for their 2012 Fall tour and Les Claypool has something special in store for the fans this year. Primus is taking things 3D by combining a 3D backdrop behind the band with a quadraphonic sound system. The band has used this set-up before in their 2008 New Year's Eve show in San Fransico but Claypool says they've perfected the technology and is better than ever,
"It's a pretty adventurous undertaking. Had we not done it once before, I'd be a little skeptical. But the show we did at the San Francisco Opera House was pretty amazing, and the notion of touring it seems to be an even more amazing concept, so we're doing it."

The state of the art visual technology was developed by 3D Live a company out of Burbank, CA that has ties with George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. Claypool said this leg of the tour will act as a dry run for upcoming shows and tours but that doesn't mean it won't be out of this world. The band will split their set between set songs and improvised jam sessions with the visualist. Fans will be given 3D glasses when they enter the venue and from there Primus will take care of the rest. Primus is still out promoting their 2011 album Green Naugahyde and have plans to re-issue a 5.1 surround sound version of the 1991 classic Sailing the Seas of Cheese. According to Claypool the band has no real plans to work on anything new right now,
"We haven't really been working on anything new at this point. We haven't even really been talking about it. We've still been kind of hammering away at this record. It's been a very pleasant record to play. It flows really well, so it's been a good one to hammer away on. I doubt we'll take as long, but we're not on the 18 month schedule."
