Battling Obscenity in the '90s

Back in the '90s Phil Donahue was your go to talk show bully and like most day time talk show host he tackled the tough topics. And by tough topics I mean trivial bullshit that only bored housewives concern themselves with. This clip is from a show that confronted obscenity and indecency in music during the '90s and poor Phil can't wrap his head around the fact that sometimes sex sells. Be it tame or be it over the top. Panel guests include 2 Live Crew's Luther Campbell, at a time when 2 Live Crew was being blamed for everything, Dead Kennedy's frontman Jello Biafra, punk icon Wendy O'Williams, and Suicidal Tendencies frontman Mike Mike Muir. Each person is called out for all the horrible things they've thrust upon the public and explains how they've been targeted by the police and the American Family Association(who brought us the Parental Advisory stickers)for the questionable material in the music and live shows. My favorite thing is that each panel member comes across as intelligent because Phil wasn't really expecting that. The 90s was such a strange time in music mostly because of the American Family Association and their never ending blame game with bands and artists. Won't somebody think of the kids!!!!
