Before They Were Famous
At this point everyone in the world has seen at least one episode of Canada's greatest export, Trailer Park Boys. It's arguably one of the greatest shows in the history of television. I could go on about what makes the show so great but that's not what this post is about. This is about Sunnyvale's resident whitest black man, J Roc, played by Canadian actor Jonathan Torrens. Before he rose to critical fame as the dopest rapper in the park Torrens was a staple on Canadian television. Back in the early '90s Torrens was a cast member on the youth oriented show Street Cents. A teen-themed newsmagazine TV series that originally aired on CBC Television between 1989 and 2006. It was one of a few shows focused on consumer and media awareness for young people. I guess you could compare it to an after school special type show here in the states. It's funny to see J to the R-O-C in all his nineties glory, it's almost like when we would see glimpses of Jaime before he turned into J Roc on TPB. It's a short video and Torrens enters at the 1:29 mark.
